01/29/2013 Update: After reviewing the current conditions, the decision was made today to continue forward with the races with a couple modifications.  The Kids Jaunt will now be an 11:00 AM start.  All other races (6 km Skate & Classic, 16 km Skate & Classic, & 12 km Pursuit) will be a Mass Start at Noon.  We are saddened to announce the cancellation of the 32 km Pursuit race for this year.

The Lumberjack Jaunt is one of the oldest nordic ski races in Minnesota.  The first jaunt was held on a farm north of town by members of the "Brainerd Snow Birds" in 1973.  It was then relocated to it's current location on the Arboretum trails in 1975.  The race has been cancelled six times since it started, most recently 2012 due to lack of snow.

This is a family oriented event with activities for all ages.  Come join in the fun!!!!

Events

Classical Races: 6 km and 16 km

Freestyle Races: 6 km and 16 km

Continuous Pursuit: 12 km (6 km Classic x 6 km Skate)

Kids Jaunt: 1km

The race is organized by the Brainerd Nordic Ski Club.  Registration and awards will be held at the Northland Arboretum Trailhead Building.

16 Km: 15 and Under,16-17, 18-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+

Continuous Pursuits: Under 20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+

An Awards Ceremony will follow the event. Awards to overall and top age group winners.

Prize Drawing

All race entrants will be entered in a drawing for items from our sponsors.

Food

Aid stations will be on the course.

Lunch will be served after the races.  Lunch is included in the entry fees for all racers.  Additional Lunch tickets will be available for $5.00.

Continuous Pursuit

Start with the classic race, change gear, skate race all on the same running clock!
